As Chartered Psychologists, we are qualified and competent to administer the full range of tests to assess all aspects of ability and functioning.
Psychological assessment means exploring some aspect of how a person’s mind works, or how they are functioning.
All psychological therapy will begin with an assessment, usually lasting one session, but psychologists can also do more detailed assessments. These often make use of standardised tests – IQ tests are the most famous example.
These assessments may be used to identify problems (e.g. dementia in older age), or to assess personality, abilities, and/or a person’s current state of mind (e.g. to assess their suitability for a job or a procedure such as gender reassignment surgery).
