Sheila is a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience providing therapy for clients with a range of mental health difficulties. She has supported individuals to manage and overcome such presentations as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, work-related stress, complex trauma, loss, phobias, relationship difficulties, anger management problems and psychosis.

She strongly believes that because everyone is unique, it is important that therapeutic interventions are always tailored for each client’s individual’s needs, rather than adopting a one size fits all approach.

She has received training in a several therapeutic modalities and uses an integrative approach in her work with clients to ensure the therapy best meets the needs of the client. Alongside her role at City Psychology Group (CPG), she also works for the NHS, providing treatment for those experiencing their first episode of psychosis.

She currently provides Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and Compassion Focused therapies (CFT) for presentations such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma and psychosis.

Sheila graduated with a BSc in Psychology from Brunel University in 2009. Following this, she spent time working for North London Forensic Services (NHS). This experience initially sparked her interest in Forensic Psychology, which subsequently led her to pursue an MSc in Clinical Forensic Psychology at King's College London (Institute of Psychiatry) in 2013.

Sheila has completed a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of East London (UEL) and more recently acquired a Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) from University College London (UCL). Sheila has worked for a variety of services which include Refugee Services, Forensic Mental Health Services, Anger Management and Emotional Control Services (AMEC) and the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service (IAPT) within the NHS. In addition, she has also provided psychological services and support for a range of corporate clients, one of the largest being Google Ireland.

Sheila’s research interests are in Social Justice. She has previously been engaged in research exploring the experiences of undocumented migrants in the UK (which she hopes to publish soon). She has also previously participated in research looking at the efficacy of the AMEC services within the UK (with the aim of rolling out the service nationwide).
