What's Involved in Psychometric Testing?

Testing usually begins with a comprehensive interview during which the testing psychologist will obtain all relevant information about the issue at hand.

This enables them to select appropriate tests. These will be administered at one or more testing sessions. Tests might consist of multiple choice questions, verbal questions, and completion of non-verbal tasks such as puzzles. Learn about the different types of testing at CPG.

Testing sessions usually last up to two hours, including breaks - you may need more than one session to complete all the necessary tests.

When testing is complete, the testing psychologist will score the tests, interpret the results, and produce a report explaining the findings.

They will meet with you to explain the results and, where appropriate, provide recommendations for what should happen next.

You may be given advice on how to make use of the information from the tests, or be referred elsewhere, or begin a programme of intervention with CPG designed on the basis of your test results.
