I meet clients where they are, and bring empathy, life experience, and my specialist training into your process of recovery, self-discovery, and change. The process may not be easy. Change requires the courage to feel uncomfortable while turning towards aspects of ourselves that we might have ignored for a long time. The good news is that our brains are changeable. The research shows that brain growth (aka. “neuroplasticity”) continues throughout our lives. When they said “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” they hadn’t seen a brain scan.
I am warm and authentic. I am kind but will be willing to challenge you in the ways that your current habits and behaviours limit your life. I use my sense of humour to increase your flexibility and adaptability to life’s challenges. I work collaboratively to find the pace and style that works best for you. My approach is individualized to support your concerns and strengths.
I believe in treating the whole person and acknowledge that clients will come into the therapeutic space with their own unique collection of personal experience and inherited traits. I work through a lens of compassionate acceptance, and I appreciate that everyone uses coping mechanisms or habits, both helpful and unhelpful ones, to exist in their world. I use an eclectic style to help clients gain integrated (body & mind) insights that create profound and lasting change. I believe that the therapeutic experience will be different for every client, depending on their unique circumstances and history and my approach is individualized to support each client’s specific concerns and strengths.
