Sexual problems are often not talked about, and so we tend not to realise how common they are. Such problems might include physical issues such as lack of arousal, erectile dysfunction, failure to achieve orgasm, pain during sex, or premature ejaculation. Other problems are more relational: you or your partner might lack interest in sex, or might find sex unsatisfying.
Sexual problems can be symptoms of emotional distress (for example depression or anxiety), a result of trauma, or a side effect of certain medications. Or they may simply arise in the normal course of relationships.
Psychological therapy can help with sexual problems, by addressing any underlying causes for the problems, teaching you techniques to resolve specific issues, and by helping you to relax and to communicate better.
